Jackson (Jackie) Wu

Jackson "Jackie" Wu, a 12-year-old pianist from Baltimore, began his musical journey at the age of five. While he enjoys playing sports with friends, it is his deep passion for classical music that drives him to dedicate his time and effort to perfecting his piano skills.

Jackie’s talent and dedication have been recognized through several prestigious awards. In 2024, he won First Prize at the Baltimore Music Teachers Association Nachman Piano Competition. The previous year, he won First Prize at the Valencia International Performance Academy and Festival, and Third Prize at the S. Gottlieb Memorial Piano Competition. His earlier achievements include winning First Prize at the Washington Universal Piano Competition in 2020.

In May 2024, Jackie reached a significant milestone by successfully completing his first solo recital, delivering a 45-minute performance that showcased his versatility and technical proficiency. His repertoire, ranging from Bach to Prokofiev, reflects his broad musical interests, though he has a particular affinity for the works of Chopin, Mendelssohn, and Debussy, which he interprets with both dynamism and romanticism.

Since August 2021, Jackie’s primary teacher is Dr. Shirley Yoo, a distinguished instructor at the Peabody Conservatory.
